Imagery is key to capturing the reader's imagination and taking him/her on the adventure within the book. All 4 authors use several different techniques to paint a picture in your mind of the scenes within the plot of the book. Share two or three images that have been captured in your mind through the author's word choice. Why are these images so vivid, and how did the author manage to accomplish this task? Be sure to include specific details of what you envisioned through the author's words.
In the book I am Malala I can picture Malala and getting shot. the Taliban meant to shoot her because Malala wants women rights. Malala got shot in the left side of her head and traveled to the shoulder. I can only really picture all the things that are being said about her and the pain she went threw. I also picture her dad and her together and having a close connection unlike her mom. Malala and her dad are close and that makes me picture her dad and her so much. her dad is always there for her when her mom is shy ad doesn't get out because of no women's rights
ReplyDeletewas your book really visual throughout the whole thing or just most the parts an my book has parts like that too like when the nazi soldiers started throwing the dead people out at every stop.
Deletei could also picture alot in my book but at first i was really confused but afterwards i started to picture everything and it all started making sense
Deleteim reading the book a long way gone and its like that to when his friends got killed in his arms also he found his family when the rebels burning there village
DeleteMy book also has images of taliban shooting people. They shot the people for little to no reason at all.
Deletein a thousand splendid suns the woman are treated bad because they had to marry a guy at a young age because that is how it was
DeleteI think that Malala and her father have a great relationship as well because the way that the author describes the connection they have shows how close they are. With showing us that, it made it easier to picture what the two look like also.
Deletei have not read this book but it looks really good. it reminds me of my book because it has dealt with war. In my book there are in death camps.
DeleteI agree, Malala did a good job describing everything. I think that is because she actually went through all of this.
DeleteI also agree that the part that you said about when she got shot because that part also stood out to me to.
DeleteIn the book Night Elie Wiesel did very good at picturing when they were on the train, at each stop throwing the dead off. He described it as throwing a sack of flour off of a truck. It showed me how careless the SS were to the jewsand there families. Elie was also very descriptive on the first night he stayed at the camp, he said it was all just one long night. When reading this it was a feeling of being alone and dead but the image it gave me was just laying there staring up and feeling numb.
ReplyDeleteI am reading A Thousand Splendid Suns and this is kind of like when Rasheed described Mariam's rice as rocks because it was so hard.
DeleteIve read this book before and i loved it. it has a lot of heartbreaking storys in it. I recomond this to anyone looking for a good book.
Deletein the book Night the book is really visual the book really lets you know how careless the Nazi soldiers are they were on the train and at every stop they throw the death off like a sack of flour. if i was seeing that with my own eyes i would be so worried about my family being some of the people getting thrown off the train and trucks. This is a really visual book throughout the whole book so far.
ReplyDeletei also thought my book had a goov visual just the way they explained everything
Deleteim reading the book a long way gone and its just like that rebels did not care just like them and they would just kill people when ever they wanted to when they were killing the people they did it bad and cut there heads off.
Deletei agree with hunter because the kite runner is a very visual book and it does have a lot of details about everything
DeleteIn my book the soldiers are also careless of some off the people that they are killing. There is a lot of death.
Deletethis book seems pretty i wish i could have git it but my book was not that bad i might read this book for the one i can pick would you recommend it?
DeleteI also think that those parts of the book were very descriptive and liked the image that was in my head.
Deletei agree that Elie does a good job describing his surroundings
Deletei am reading the book kite runner a few pictures i see are the town. i can really see the town because i have seen alot of pictures like this. I have also seen alot of movies about people dieing and baba dies. it just reminds me of all the moves i have seen of all the people that die of cancer. and the last and final thing was just all the people in the book they all remind me of charcters of other books
ReplyDeleteThis is almost me too. I watch a lot of war movies and it really re-creates the scenes. It really shows how bad it was when the city was destroyed.
Deletecould u see the guy fight with baba and the guards
Deletei am reading the book a long way gone and its getting a lot better he does a really good job with writing the book and putting good details in it. the one good one that stood out to me was when they where shooting back at them in the forest. Another one was when he is trying to sleep in side of his tiny house that is junk.
ReplyDeleteI also think that the author does a good job of putting a picture in your mind when there are getting shot at in the forest.
Deletethe details the author uses in this book really make you see whats going on and really show how horrific things are in the country
DeleteI agree the author has a lot of really good details in the book and it makes the book sound a lot better and more interesting.
Deletein the book The Kite Runner, there are many parts of the book where the author creates visuals. One part is where Hassans wife gives birth to a stillborn baby. I was able to picture it clearly. another part of the book that creates a visual is when Amir goes back to Kabul to find Hassans son. the city was destroyed and Amir could not believe it. Another visual part is when Rahim Khan is describing how Hassan and his wife both got shot. this book is very visual throughout the whole book.
ReplyDeletei thought it was crazy how the Taliban destroyed so much of their town and it didn't look like anything when they went back. It was crazy to think of everything they lost. He is very good at describing events throughout the story.
DeleteI think that is another part to easily picture because of movies and video games that are in the middle east and they can be destroyed
DeleteI’m reading a thousand splendid suns and mariam as to all so give birth to a dead baby and describes the burial proses with vary short but powerful words
Deletein my book the rebels destroy all the villages they go too and the author gives good detail about what is happening to these people and how they are destroying there lives and how they are going to have to rebuild there lives once everything is over.
Deleteyeah that weird and sad how they got shot the words make it a very visual book
DeleteIn my book the author has many details in the book that make the book better and makes you kind of feel like your there.
DeleteIn the book Kite Runner some events that i can picture are when they were transported in the gas truck, in the basement with rats, and when Hassan was raped right in the street. The one that he made stand out the most was the rape incident. He made it so suspenseful and it made the main character get into a predicament. He wanted to do something about it but then he didn't at the same time. He put in the book that Amir was biting so hard on his wrist that it was making himself bleed. When they were in the gas truck he talked about how it was dark and how the fumes were so bad it was interesting to see if they would make it or not. These events that he made in the book almost put you in the front seat and take you for a ride.
ReplyDeletedid u imagine being in a gas truck as being in a muddy river
Deletei agree with jacob because the part of the kite runner where Hassan got raped was an very visual part. if i were Amir i would not be able to watch it happen.
DeleteI agree with brenden and jacob the rape is what i believed to be what stuck out the most in that book
DeleteI also read Kite Runner and the part where Hassan got raped was terrible to picture this.
Deletein the book a long way gone the author uses a lot of writing detail to add a since of what of whats going on around them. One picture the author created was right in the beginning of the book The author described a van that had been shot up by the rebel troops while a family was trying to escape. Ishmael described how the father had blood covering his arms and body and how it was still flowing. He also described how when they came to a stop the man just feel out of the van with no strength left in his body from the loss of blood and about how his family was dead in the back of the van from being shot up by rebels. Another picture that stands out to me is when they boys are taken to the compound with the city soldiers and foreigners and they find a group of rebel boys in the compound. Ishmael and some other solider boys were trying to figure out why there luetienent gave up them and as soon as they found out some boys were part of the RUF they ended up in the court yard killing the RUF boys like they swore they would kill each one they met no questions asked
ReplyDeletei agree in the book a long way gone. the author uses a lot of detail to describe and help the reader really imagine the scenes and make them feel like they are in the book.
Deletei agree in the book along way gone the author uses a lot of details to help readers picture what is happining
DeleteIn the book kite runner the kites are well described. They are big part of the the peoples cultures in the book until 1996 until they got banned. They give colors and shapes of the kites. Also another thing that they described very well is some of the houses that are in that country. You get a pretty good image of the houses.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the author describes the kites very well and i think its because the book is based off the kites
DeleteI agree that the author of Kite Runner does a good job of describing the colors of the kites and how the glass is in the strings.
DeleteIn the book A Thousand Splendid Suns the image stuck in my mind is when Rasheed made Mariam eat the pebbles. That stuck out to me because he was being very dramatic when Mariam's rice was not done all the way and he said it was like eating rocks. He made physically made her chew on a handful of pebbles and her mouth started bleeding.
ReplyDeleteI angry the pebbles did stay with me for a long time and when I think back the pain can almost be felt when reading
Deletethis makes me wonder what other images and whats going on in your book.
DeleteThat is a terrible thing to do, i feel bad for the characters in this book.
DeleteIn I Am Malala, the author has so much imagery that is shown in each scene. The scene that sticks out the most is when Malala got shot on the bus. I could see when the men stopped the bus and when they got on and demanded to know who Malala was. I could see the bullet and I could imagine the way that it went. Another scene is when she was in the hospital. The description that the author had was in such great detail that it was clear in my mind.
ReplyDeleteI am reading the kite runner and i feel like in any of the scenes where there is a fight, there is always a lot more imagery and thats what makes us all remember it a lot better than all the other parts. I say this because in my book there was also a fight scene and it was by far the most descriptive of all the moments in the book.
Deletein my opinion i think the biggest part that was the most detailed was the part of her getting shot on the bus.
DeleteI read the book "A thousand splendid suns" and the author did described the imagery very well, it was almost as if I was inside the book too experiencing what the characters are going through because some parts were really emotional.
Deletein the book a long way gone there is a lot of visual detail and the author really goes into depth and uses lots of imaginary through out the book. the part where the main character is in a battle during the civil war in his country he is fighting the rebels and is shot the author uses a lot of images and really goes into depth about the characters pain and how badly hurt he is. another instants is when he is out of the war and is suffering PTSD he is really in pain and the author uses lots of imaginary and goes into depth about the pain he is going through.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the author does a very good job of painting a picture in the readers mind with whats going on in the book.
DeleteIshmael's experiences while under fire were clearly shown with the way he describes his friend dying against the log and how the last breathe went out of him.
DeleteIn my novel A Thousand Splendid Suns, Khaled Hosseini creates beautiful visuals by using emotion and short and powerful sentences. When Mariam came home and found her mother hanging from a willow tree, the author depicts it through dramatic descriptions. These short sentences show the emotion and confusion that is happening in the scene perfectly. He described the wind that blew the branches apart, the overturned chair, and Nana dangling on the end of the rope. Other times Hosseini showed great visuals, is when Rasheed beats Mariam. It explains everything from the blood and actions to the sound and pain. The words he chooses paint a dramatic picture in every reader's mind.
ReplyDeleteThe author of I Am Malala does the same thing, except instead of short simple sentences, they use longer ones that go into great depth and detail. Due to this, it helps paint pictures in my mind and helps me understand the novel better.
DeleteHosseini did a wonderful job on describing a lot of things and most of the time I can picture in my head the details he put on his book. One thing I can for sure imagine was the abuse Mariam and Laila went through because the author described the pain they felt and what they saw through their eyes.
Deletei am reading the book a thousand splendid suns and i am almost done with the book and it wasn't that bad of a book the part where the tarik and laila had to leave and she wasnt having it because he left and she tried running away to find him but they said he died.
ReplyDeleteI agree the book is not that bad it got better and more interesting as I kept reading. I feel bad that Laila went for awhile thinking Tariq was dead just so she would not leave Rasheed.
DeleteIn my book A thousand splendid suns Khaled Hosseini does a very good job at painting pictures in our heads. One scene that caught my attention was when mariams mom hung herself and she described that she ways swaying in the breeze from the tree in the front yard. Another picture in my mind is when Rasheed is trying to beat mariam but laili is trying to stop him. Finally when the girls are trying to escape but they get caught and returned to rasheed and he is so angry with them.
ReplyDeleteI agree Hosseini did a good job with description in this book. The scenes were even sadder and more difficult to read.
DeleteI'm reading Long Way Gone and i have a couple of images that i have got from the way the author describes things in the book. The first one is when the Corporal holds a contest to kill prisoners and the solders have to slit the prisoners throats and whoever has the prisoner that dies first wins, Ishmael wins this competition and is given the rank of Junior Lieutenant and they celebrated with more drugs and more war movies. Then also the image that all these boys do that are solders is snort "brown brown" cocaine mixed with gunpowder and smoke weed, raid villages, kill people, and watch war movies. They were either on the front lines, watching war movies, or doing drugs.
ReplyDeletei cant even imagine having to watch those things
Deletei agree the image of the Corporal that holds a contest to kill the prisoners and when they killed them is was really detailed and hard to read because it was go nasty.
Deletei agree imagining the corporal holding the contest killing the prisoners by sliting their throat was really detailed
DeleteThe neck slitting contest was a very grotesque image that got placed in my mind after reading that as well.
DeleteI am reading the book a long way gone and one of the images that the author described is when him and his squad would go and attack villages and all the bodys and burnt down huts that were around the village. Another image is a bunch of kids running around killing people and then going to go do drugs at their base.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like you remember these images because they could be considered gruesome.
DeleteThe imagery of the village raids were not as detailed as the people that were killed. I think the author has it etched into his brain form the past.
DeleteIm Reading Kite Runner and there are two main scenes that come into my mind are the scene when Amir comes back to afganistan. and the scene when he sees Hassan being raped. The reson i can see the scene when he cmes back to his war ridden hometown is because they have worlds in like Call of Duty that are middle eastern and that is what comes to my mind. The reson i can picture Hassans rape is because there are a lot of crime shows that have rape in them
ReplyDeleteI agreee that when amir came back to afganistan, it seemed like call of duty because all the potholes in the road from the bombs and the cars that looked like they were on fire on the side of the road
DeleteI see the rape part in my book too because Elie sees the solider raping a young girl that is a jew in the camp. I can't imagine the way they were treated. It is like a toy so sad.
DeleteIn I am Malala, it takes place in Pakistan and the Taliban started a war there and bombs started going off all around her and Malala does a good job of describing the bombs go off and how close they were to her and how they went off all night long and didn't get much sleep because of it.
DeleteI am reading the book kite runner and there are many images i could picture throughout the story. The first one was when Amir as in the room with assef. I pictured it as a small crammed room and with red carpets and gold everything. The author made me think of this because he Amir was explaining things around the room and it all sounded fancy. Another thing that was pictured in my mind well was in the hospital. When the nurse gave Amir the mirror, it explained everything what happened into a lot of detail like the cut down his lip and all his missing teeth.
ReplyDeleteIn my book the author also goes into alot of detail about the things that happen like how he explained how he had cut some guys neck with his knife and the sounds that the guy made as he died.
DeleteI agree. I think the fight scene with Assef and Amir had great details in it. The way they described his face in the mirror gave a ghastly image of what he looked like after the fight and how bad he had been hurt.
DeleteMy book has a lot of details also. Like when he is explaining how the jews had to run a very long distance. You can feel the emotions and physical pain.
DeleteThis reminded me of my author because every time he moves places, the author very well describes his new surroundings.
DeleteI read night and was very shaken by the way Elie writes the book. Going to the camp he sees babies being used as target practice and the time that the kid got hung and was still hanging for over half an hour. I have watched movies and read books about the holocaust but never have I realized the struggles that you make to stay alive like in this book night. Running for 2 miles at night during the winter and stopping just for a second to be shot. I am proud of those survives that lived because they went thru torches and hate thought out there life.
ReplyDeleteThat scene of the babies in the air being shot at like clay pigeons at a trap shoot that image is just horrific.
DeleteThat scene is horrific if i were a parent seeing that i would honestly vote to go next because i could not live with my self experiencing that even if i was not a parent.
Deletethat book sounds terrible and very tramactic i would not like to be able to imagine that stuff.
DeleteThis book describes some one the worst stuff ever to happen in human history. The most inhumane things to go down.
DeleteI am reading The kite runner and there are many moments in the book that you can see vividly. One of those moments is when Amir is angry at his best friend Hassan and wants Hassan to fight him. So Amir begins to throw pomegranates at his friend crushes one on his own head instead of fighting back. This scene is so sad and you can feel the emotion felt through the text. It also describes the juice as being as red as blood with more details of how they felt which made it all the more real. One other moment which you can see whats going on is Amir and Assef's fight. Amir describes the room before the fight and describes the glint off of Assef's brass knuckles. Amir describes all the objects in the room in the fight and how they were used against him.
ReplyDeleteWow that is sad. There is so much hate in the world today and it is sad at how many die over studid things. Do you agree with me. I mean look at how many wars we entered in. All because of power.
Deletethats really sad like that can happen anywhere in the world and can happen to anyone. do you ever think that there are people in this world that would want to do that to people or anything.
DeleteMy book A Thousand Splendid Suns also paints vivid scenes when there are fights. I also agree you can feel the emotions while reading the painful parts.
DeleteI think our author does a really good job at referring things to others like the pomegranates looking like blood.
DeleteI am reading "Night" and one of the images I have in my mind is when one of the prisoners is trying to sneak some soup from the pot. It is stuck in my head and is very vivid because the author uses a lot of detail and makes it feel like you are a real prisoner in a concentration camp watching it happen in real life. Another one that is imprinted in my mind is when the author talks about having to run a very long distance. He talks about the pain in his legs and how it is hard to breathe and his lungs burn. While reading that I felt that I had also been running. I picture these so vividly because the author uses a lot of description and drags you into it like you are part of the story.
ReplyDeleteIn my book the main character Ishmael also has to travel a long distance and at one point he got lost while out in the jungle and he had to eat things that birds normally would eat he also was chased around by wild boars who would have killed him.
DeleteI agree with all you said, all these pictures are also stuck in my mind Elie really does good with discribing the details, just like running through the soft heavy blanket of snow from camp to camp.
DeleteIn my book the main character Ishmael, the author, also uses detail that make it like you are in the character's body and seeing everything that he saw.
Deleteim reading the same book and i agree with you the book is really visual throughout the book
DeleteHe does make everything so real when he describes what everyone looks like and stuff.
Deletei agree, those images really do stick in your head
DeleteA image that Elie put in my mind was the train cars. He really did a great job picturing the scene of the Jews packed so tight in those little cars that it was hard to breath. Then the women screaming about flames got beat and then the towers of fire of burning hair smell and flesh that was just something so hard to think about but Elie did a good job of putting that picture in my mind.
ReplyDeleteThe train cars was very terrifying to read about he did do a great job on not only writing about it but even putting us on the train with him thats how strong and vivid he wrote that scene.
DeleteI couldn't imagine being in those train cars having to stop every so often to throw the dead out like how he described it.
DeleteI’m reading a thousand splendid suns and a few images have been etched into my mind one is when mariam finds Rasheed’s gun in his drawer I can not only see this but feel the emotions going on in her head
ReplyDeletetwo is the bombs from the airy sound too the deafening sound blast and the after math with corpus in the street. 3 the pebbles I can see and feel the pain see the blood and the fragments of molars. all 3 have vivid detail and put you right there in their shoes.
i can tell how you feel because its like were just there watching and feeling the horror that happens. like we feel the emotions and we must keep reading.
DeleteI am reading the book Along Way Gone by Ishmael Beah. One image that the author shared was when he first got touched by war. He was sitting on a veranda when a truck came down the road as the driver opened the door to the passenger, the passenger fell out with blood all over her. Also, there was kids in the backseat that also had bullet holes in them and they all had their eyes open but where all dead. Another, scene of imagery I had was when Ishmael was on a raid with one of his friends and his friend decided to be a hero and take the whole village out by himself. He crawled threw the grass until he got to a building which he creeped around the building and killed 4 guards with a bayonet. The author uses vivid detail to describe his surroundings and he also uses metaphors and similes to explain the mood of the scene
ReplyDeleteI am reading a thousand splendid suns and in the book theres sevral moments where i can just see whats happening. one of the first parts of imagery is when Mariam finds her mom hanging from a willow tree. i could see it because of the driver trying to block the Mariam from seeing her mom hanging and i could just see her face fall. another point in the book is when her husband makes her eat marbles to crush her teeth and its very blunt and you can take it with a grain of salt because it feels like its just natural in this society.
ReplyDeleteim reading a thousand splendid suns and and there is so much things that she uses lots of word choice. such as he makes everything feel like you have seen this happen to someone or that you have heard about it. he makes it so real and believable. when it describes the life that mariam had to go through and all the hard ships she. he life was had to deal with and all the abuse she got from her mother and her husband. he wouldnt let her leave without him, ave to be covered at all times, make him food and if he doesnt like it he would hit her, yell at her, of even make her eat pebbles. this book shows so much that has happened around the world and that can happen to anyone.
ReplyDeleteand when she was basically raped by her husband is another moment in the book in which i wish wasnt there. because she dosent even fight it she just knows that this is her life and that she must deal with it.
DeleteI am reading the book night and damn a scene that hit me and made me almost cry was when the adult and the little boy were getting hung and the adult went fairly quick but the little boy was just hanging there for 30 minutes and all the Jews were walking past him still alive fighting for air and i thought to myself if i were in that position knowing its the end and there is nothing that can save me. Another scene that caught my attention that he described very well is when the 2 pots of soup was just chilling and he said it was like the soup was the lambs and the Jews were the wolves.
ReplyDeleteomg thats so sad. i would be the one that would go get that kid down even if that means that i would die for the kid.
Deletei am reading night and the author does a good job of describing his surroundings. he talked about how auschwitz looked like it had been through an epidemic and it was empty and dead. he also describes what it looked like when someone was shot, he says he let out a terrible scream, a death rattle.
ReplyDeleteauthors are good at visualizations and i can see how they can really put a good imagine in your head
DeleteI read the book Kite Runner there are a lot of different things that paint picture in your mind. The first one is when they are in the house and the Taliban starts to take over there town and they're laying down behind a wall listening to the gun shots. The second one is when they are try to go to america and they have to ride in the back of a gas ruck and those fumes would be terrible to inhale. I think the worst one would be when Hassan was getting raped in the ally way the author does a good job putting you in the scene with the characters. The author showed how he could hear the grunts of Asfean and what was going on through Amir head.
ReplyDeleteIn my book A Long Way Gone the author paints a lot of pictures in your head about what these kids had to go through. They saw many people dead with bodies everywhere and bodies mangled and kids and old people with bullets in there head. Then when they get picked for the battle and they have to go to the front line and just imagine being on the front line in a war to protect your people. These are important cause some of us will never know what its like to be risking your life for other people.
ReplyDeletekite runner the one image that stuck in my mind was when baba and amir went on a road trip and left in the middle of the night. they left in a truck and had to go past some gardes and the gardes got mad and baba and baba told gardes got in a fight and pulled a gun. then second image is when baba told amir that he had cancer. I have been in amir shoes.
ReplyDeletein my book kite runner there were a few scenes that really got to me see the picture. it was one when there in the tanker truck and he was describing how dark it was in there and when his eyes adjusted he was able to see and i know exactly what thats like and i can imgine it. and when they talk about there kite flying i can imagine all the kites in the air.
ReplyDeletewhat does the kite represent
DeleteI am reading the book Night by Elie Wiesel and he does a very good job of describing the many different settings in the book. He does a fantastic job on making it seem so vivid I can picture it in my head. The best written part of the book is when Elie meets Dr. Josef Mengele when he gets his medical exam.
ReplyDeleteIn the book I am Malala, one of the scenes that caught my attention was when she got shot in the head. She got shot in the left side of her head and it went down through her shoulder. The bullet also hit two other girls that were sitting by her. In the book it also has pictures that of different times in her life. Another scene that catches my attention is when the Taliban torture and kill civilians in the middle of town. These catch my attention because torturing and milling people is not okay, but where they are from that is apparently okay.
ReplyDeleteI am glad this book was on at the bottom of my list because it just doesn't seem exciting to me.
DeleteIn my book a long way gone, the author does a good job describing multiple scences in the book. some of the scenes that really stick out in my mind are when Ishmeal is crawling through the swamp land and how they are crawling over dead bodys and stuff. also another thing that really i can remember is that when they are in the military and they are taking all these drugs and they are really addicted to them. The last thing that really sticks out in my mind is when they were describing him going back to New York to move in with his uncle.
ReplyDeletei am reading a long way gone the author uses lots of details to describe what is happening around them. one image the author shows was a van with a family that all had been shot with blood on the windows and bullet holes in the van. another image was when he was at the front lines and rpg's are getting shot and his friends falling and dying.
ReplyDeleteI agree, i also could really visualize the van scene because of how descriptive the author was.
Deletein the book night the author shows great imagery. the time he talks about how elie young and very strong in his faith sees a young boy hung and killed. it then lead to him loosing his faith. its insane how that made him i just imagine the most disgusting thing like the boy just was hanging flesh. and i think the author defiantly accomplished helping us see what he saw. next was when they where walking to the next camp in the blizzard and people got shot just for taking a break. i cant even imagine that all i see in my ear is plane white and then just gun shots ever. he accomplished again showing us what it was like.
ReplyDeleteListing to everyone talk about this book drags me in because it sounds very interesting and i think i will have to read it sometime.
DeleteI am reading the book Night and the author uses a lot of detail to make it seem like you are in the situation that you are reading about. One of the situations is being in the concentration camp. The author is very strong in detail and made it seem like I was a prisoner in the camp with Elie dealing with every day life. Another example would be the relationship between Elie and his father. The author included large amounts of detail about how he would do whatever possible to stay with his father until the end.
ReplyDeletemy book is the same way. every situation he describes you can paint a very clear picture and can realize how bad the situation really was
DeleteI read the book Kite Runner and i could really vision when everyone was in the gas tanker and seeing rahim khan sick. I could envision gas tank scene pretty well because i could imagine the smell of gas and almost feel the suffocation from the darkness and fumes. Rahim Kahn also stood out to me because i could almost see how his bones and how pale he is.
ReplyDeleteI am reading the book a long way gone and it is very good at leaving mental pictures in your mind. The main two pictures that stuck in my mind were when the guy got blown up by the R.P.G. and when Ishmael's friend bled out after getting shot while laying on the rock. I could see the guy exploding into red mist after getting blown up. The guy bleeding out on the log was also a very clear picture in my mind.
ReplyDeletei agree. most of what he discribes you can paint a very clear picture in his mind. if you think about it its probably because those images are stuck with him for life and he needed to get it out somehow.
Deletei agree, i could also really visualize when the guy was shot by the R.P.G. because of how detailed it was.
DeleteI'm reading I am Malala by Malala. one place i had pictured in my mind was the part when she got shot in the head on the bus. another spot was when she reunited with her family when she was recovering in the hospital. These ones stood out to me the most because it was so detailed and it made you really focus into what you were reading. it made a really clear picture in my mind so clear it felt real.
ReplyDeletein the book a long way gone one picture the author made in the beginning of the book described a van that was shot up by the rebel troops while a family was trying to escape. Ishmael described how the father had blood covering his body and how it was still flowing. He also described how when they came to a stop the man just feel out of the van with no strength left in his body from the loss of blood and his family was dead in the back of the van. Another picture that stands out is when they boys are taken to the compound with the city soldiers and foreigners and they find a group of rebel boys. Ishmael and some other soldiers were trying to figure out why the Lt gave them up and as soon as they found out some boys were part of the RUF they started killing the RUF boys. they swore they would kill each one they met.
ReplyDeleteIn the book "A thousand splendid suns" the author Khaled Hosseini did an excellent job at describing a lot of things and that cause me to open up my mind and envision what he was trying to explain. The first thing that I was able to imagine was the Physical abuse Mariam and Laila go trough. The part where Laila was getting kicked, punched, and even slashed at, made me cringe because I tried to imagine myself in her shoes and I don't think I would of had that much strength to go through something like that. The second thing I was able to see in my mind perfectly were the streets. Hosseini explained in great detail how bad the streets were and how dangerous it was to even go outside during the war. There was bombings, body parts everywhere, and every building was destroyed or falling apart.
ReplyDeleteIn the book Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini there are many visuals in the book where you can just imagine what you see because the authors very well at describing everything in detail. one of the things i could see is Hassan getting raped in the alley and i could feel Amirs stomach drop and how he didnt know what to do. Also i could see and feel the pain of Hassans wife giving birth to a still born child. Lastly i could see the boys flying kite and chasing after them having the time of there life and having fun.The only thing i could not visualize is the town they lived in i have no idea what it would look like.
ReplyDeleteI am reading along way gone and the author uses a lot of detail to describe what is going on around them. One image that really stuck out to me in this book is when the guy got shot by the R.P.G because i could just visualize him getting blown up. Another image that was put into my head was when the van was getting shot up by the rebels and it said how there was blood all over the fathers body and i could really visualize it because the author uses words to describe exactly whats going on.
