Blog Response #6
In all five novels, the main character or characters face adversity in one way or another. Describe how you view the character's challenges in your book, and talk about how your character handles the hardships and struggles. If you were in your main character/characters situation, how would you handle yourself? What would you do?
I'm reading A Thousand Splendid Suns, in part 1 the main character Mariam has gone through some hard times with her mom killing herself, getting forced to get married, and having a lot o miscarriages. If i was in her situation I would try to run away I would hate being forced to get married and try to have kids especially if i was 14 marrying a 40 year old.
ReplyDeleteI am also reading A Thousand Splendid Suns and agree I would not want to get forced to marry at 14. I think it would be hard for Mariam to survive if she ran away since she has only ever lived up on the mountain.
DeleteOur books aren't really like but can relate on women. Malala is from a different country where they stay home and cook, clean and take care of the family doesn't have any say in anything.
Deleterunning away would be the best option if she was planning to escape the country and never return. if she returned she would be shunned.
Deleteshe was actually marrying a guy who was 50 some years old which is even worse. the thing is theirs no way out of her marriage even though she gets abused, its just how it goes in that country
DeleteI am also reading A Thousand Splendid Suns and agree all this must be insane to deal with from marry a guy with a insane age gap and losing 7 kids..
DeleteA Thousand Splendid Suns was my 1st choice book i wanted to read, but i am glad i didn't get it because it doesn't seem as interesting as Kite Runner.
DeleteIt sounds like she has a lot of pressure on her but it shows great strength that she stays around and goes through it. I agree with you when you say if you her you would run away because that sound nerve racking to be forced to marry someone yo don't even love or know.
DeleteI am reading the book Kite Runner and the main characters name is Amir and he s a very intelligent and sensitive guy. Amir has a best friend, his name is Hassan. When they were kids he saw something so crazy that bothers him everyday of his life, he saw his best friend get raped in front of his own eyes. He didn't know what to do so he ran and acted like he never saw it. He gets mad at himself everyday for it and he feels like it is his fault his best friend got raped. If i was Amir i wouldn't know what to do i think i would have found a rock or something to use to protect myself and i would attempt to stop them.
ReplyDeletei agree with lauren because i think charlie should have tried to help out Hassan and not run away and pretend he didnt see it
DeleteIf I was in his situation I would definitely try to stop the rapist depending how old I was when it happend I guess. I can see why he might be scarred, I would be too.
DeleteI feel like it was not okay for Amir to just run away like that when his best friend was getting raped and not even try to make it better. instead he pushes hassan away and that affects him everyday living with that guilt. Thats why now i feel like he is trying to make things better for all the mistakes he made as a child
DeleteI also agree that he should have helped his friend but also it all depends on how old he was and what kind of person he is. He also shouldn't be blaming himself for what someone else did because he would have raped him no matter what. Who knows what if he tried to stop it and he got beat and raped himself then his friend would most likely blame himself for getting him involved.
Deletein a long way gone the main characters face adversity every day. they have to face challenges everyday with living in a war and have to fight to stay alive. the characters handle the hardships of the war by running away but they have lots of encounters close to death. if i was in the characters situation i would be scared of anyone i see because you don't know who to trust and who not to trust. i would be scared of being attacked it would be a very scary life to live.
ReplyDeletethe fact that the main character cant be trusted has to hard too when ever he goes to a village there is no one there he can trust and no one can trust him either and that has to be hard on his mental state of mind also.
DeleteMy characters were also in a war country and they had to face some of the same challenges. My character moved to america but had to ride in a fuel truck and just about died from the fumes.
DeleteThe book the kite runner is kind of the same deal. the people in your book run away from the problems but so does my main character Amir. I feel like in your book it is safe to run away but in mine it is not because when Amir witnessed his best friend get raped he did nothing and that is not okay.
Deletemy character laila from A Thousand Splendid Sun is currently in a war zone where all she hears is the sound of rockets coming in she has lost many friends and one was even hit ...
Deletein the book the kite runner, Charlie and Hassan are the main characters. Charlie is in the upper class and Hassan is in the lower class. this is one of the challenges in this book because since Charlie and Hassan are in different classes, they think differently about certain topics and get in arguments about random things. these arguments led to them no longer being friends. charlie doesn't really know how to handle his situation but he keeps trying. if i were Charlie, i would apologize to Hassan because their friendship was really good. i would try to make it up to Hassan so we could be friends again.
ReplyDeletei am reading A Long Way Gone and the main character is facing a civil war in his country and has to try and escape being captured and being forced to fight with the rebels. I think the character is having to face a lot because he is always on the move and never really has food or water or shelter and he is running through a jungle which is full of dangerous animals and plants i think his biggest struggle is not knowing if his family is alive and that no matter where he hes he is never safe because of the rebels if i was in his situation i would probably do the same thing just keep running and try to survive
ReplyDeletei agree you wouldn't know who to trust and who not to trust it would be a very scary place to live
DeleteYour novel is quite different than mine. In yours, it is very brutal and involves war. Where in mine, it has a strict country that makes you follow certain rules, but they both involve hardships that the main character goes through.
DeleteI am reading the kite runner. My main character faces a lot of hard ships in the book so far but it all is flashbacks so it does not really talk about how he handles them much. Some of the hardships are his father passing away, having a war in his country and moving to a different country. The hardships would be hard to deal with. I think i would handle them like he did, just the best i could.
ReplyDeletein my book there is also a war going on is his country and has to keep moving around so he isn't captured he can never feel safe or trust any one i think that would be very hard to have no game plan except to just survive and be able to get through this war alive and hopefully meet his family again
DeleteI would hate to have his life of always moving and having a war in your backyard. I think it was a good idea that they fled the town and made it to America
DeleteI am also reading Kite Runner and it would be terrible having a huge war near my house i would rather move even though it was a long painful journey.
DeleteMalala is in a country that thinks that women should be treated less than a man. They think that women should just stay in the house and cook and take care of the babies. To Malala, this is very difficult and she can not get herself to follow the rules. She and her father both think that they should be able to express themselves. Malala does things that not all girls do. She gets an education, unlike other girls, and does what she believes is right. If I were personally in this situation, I would also think the same thing. I see men and women as equal and I think that a woman is worth more than being forced to stay in the house and not speak. I would do what I think is right and do more than what they think I should do.
ReplyDeleteIf you lived in that country do you think you would have moved away sooner or later then malala decided to
DeleteI agree with you. The way women are treated isn't right in that country because women are equal to men and should be able to do everything that men can do.
DeleteIn the kite runner it does not talk about woman very often but i do not think what they have to do is right
DeleteIn a Thousand Splendid Suns woman are also treated unfairly. They are forced to marry who their dad says to and it is very unfair to woman
Deletein my book a thousand splendid sun they do not treat the woman with respect. they act like they are a present.
DeleteI agree one hundred percent with you on this because she has a really rough life just because of her gender and that shouldn't be.
DeleteThe book "Malala" and "A thousand splendid suns" have similarities because in both women are treated unfairly. My characters Mariam and Laila both were married to this guy name Rasheed who was toxic and abusive. Laila was the one who fought back and no matter how many times she has gotten beaten, that didn't stop her from doing what she wanted.
DeleteIn A Long Way gone Ishmael is in the middle of a civil war between a national goverment and rebels. The rebels are coming into the villages and towns slaughtering the residence torturing them and raping women and kids. Ishmael is running from the rebels trying to find safty and his family while also trying to find food and water to drink so that he can live. If i was in his shoes i would proboly do the same thing because when your attcked out of nowhere you dont have time to prepare yourself to fight back or get away with your family in time
ReplyDeleteOur character in The Kite Runner also had to face soldier coming into their town and taking it over. They fled out of the city and got to America. Our books sound very similar to each other.
Deletei agree with Alex because when you get attacked you wouldn't have time to prepare so you have to live with what you have
DeleteI agree with Alex. I would do the same thing that the boys are doing and just run away and try not to get caught from the rebels.
Deleteit worried how people live back then because ur book shows torture and rough life and my book the kite runner Charlie has a nice rich life.
DeleteI am reading the book Kite Runner and the main character Amir faces many of challenges throughout the story. One of the challenges he faced was when his best friend Hassan was raped by Assef and Amir never did anything about it as he ran away in terror. From running away, he ruined their friendship with each other and all he wants to do is get it back. He also has his father die from cancer and he takes that hard because he idolized him. If I was Amir and I watched my friend getting raped I wouldn't even know what to do. There would be so many ideas racing through my mind and I feel as if I would just run to also not get raped. I feel as if it would be extremely hard if I lost my father due to cancer because of all things you can't do with him anymore.
ReplyDeletedo you think that amir would of done the right thing if he wasnt affraid of what was going to happen to hmself
Deletei agree with jacob because i dont know what i would do if i broke a friendship and lost my father from cancer.
DeleteI feel that I would not run but stand up for Hassan and try to scare him off. I also agree that losing a parent to cancer would be hard thing to over come.
DeleteWhat do you think would have happened if h tried to stop it, i think that maybe they would be friends still because it would show how he cared.
DeleteI honestly think that Amir was a coward when it came to Hassans rape. It is never ok to leave someone in that situation and i believe that things would have turned out differently if Amir stood up to them.
DeleteI am reading I am Malala and the hard things she has to face is being a women and not getting equal rights like men. Its a very ruled country and they don't have the free rights we do. Malala is trying to be a women that is able to do the same things as men. If I were the main character I would feel the same way as Malala wanting to be a women that can do the same thing as men and not have to stay home and please then.
ReplyDeleteI would have a very hard time living in this country. I would also feel the same way as Malala, and I wouldnt follow the rules that they have.
DeleteMy book A Thousand Splendid Suns also has problems that mostly women face. I think I would also fight to do the same things as men and not sit at home.
DeleteIn kite runner, i feel like women women don't have equal rights either. It seems like the guys control everything the women do and if the women don't do it the right way they get punished.
DeleteI also agree with you because this is a really big thing and I feel like we see it more because we are girls reading the book.
DeleteI agree, women should have equal rights and not have to deal with what she went through.
DeleteIn the book A Long Way Gone the main character has faced a lot of challenges through out the book so far. At the beginning his parents were captured and taken away when he was gone. He has gotten captured and got away about 3-4 times already form the rebels. He has to learn to survive on his own with his buddy's and try to find anyone that can help them. So far he has done very well with finding help from people to give them shelter and a old man to give them food to survive. If I was the main character I would most likely do the same thing they are doing just try to survive and keep running and try to make it through. I wouldn't join the rebels cause if some army comes over they will kill every last rebel there is.
ReplyDeleteI think Ishmael is surviving quite well so far, but I think his luck will run out sooner or later. I also think that joining the rebels was a bad idea, but I guess you have to do what you can to survive.
Deletethis is kind of like kite runner because they face many challanges
DeleteThe character in my book, Night, is kind of similar he has to basically learn to survive in a concentration camp until the war is over. I think his luck will run out and something bad will happen to like his dad but he will survive the camp.
Deleteim also reading rileys book and elie has to try to survive in the death camps of Auschwitz i hope his family all turns out ok and they meet back up.
DeleteIn my book A Thousand Splendid Suns, the characters that go through a lot are Fariba, Laila, and Mariam. Fariba misfortunes are very sad. Both her sons died in war and now she lays in bed all day, only wearing black. She doesn't act as a mother for her surviving daughter, Laila, and is practically dead herself. I think if I was in her situation, I would still mourn the loss of the boys, but I would not abandon the rest of my family as Fariba is. Laila also faces hardships having to raise herself. She also lost one of her close childhood friends who was blown up walking home from school. I think she is handling her problems the best she can. Mariam, the final character I chose, is faced with the hardships dealing with her cruel husband. Every miscarriage she has, gives him more resentment and hate towards her. I think she is also dealing with her situation the best way possible, by enduring.
ReplyDeleteBoth of them do endure so much pain that's why I think both of them are strong for holding so much baggage on their shoulders and still being able to go on about their day as if it was nothing. Both of them were to young to marry Rasheed his character is truly disgusting, he enjoys causing pain and fear onto Laila and Mariam. They deserve more then what their getting right now, hopefully they both can escape from Rasheed soon.
DeleteThroughout the book "A Long Way Gone" the main character Ishmeal faces many challenges. He is very strong, and goes through a lot of things. He watches many people die and has to go without his family and little to no food. When Gasemu was shot right in front of him. He wanted to sit there and stay with him but he knew he couldn't because he had to move on and help the other soldiers fight. It took everything he had to move on and leave Gasemu there. But he was strong and pulled himself through to make the right choice and do what he had to do. If i was in Ishmeal's situation it i wouldn't be able to handle it the way Ishmael handles it. I couldn't just go out at 13 years old and start shooting people and join the military with n family or not knowing who to trust because most of the rebels are boys ranging from 7-20 years old. So you don't know if you can make friends with them because they might be bad guys.
ReplyDeleteI also don't think I would be able to handle the trauma from becoming a soldier at thirteen either. I think it would drive me insane and make me lose my grasp on humanity.
Deletethat wood be hard to deal with on seeing people die and getting shot in front of you. and being only 13 years old. I woodnt trust know one.
DeleteIn my book A Thousand Splendid Suns Mariam has faced many challenges. Her mom kills herself while Mariam is away visiting her dad. While she is visiting her dad she is told that her father cant see her right now so she sleeps outside his house waiting for him to return. Her fathers driver comes and tells her she must leave and offers her a ride home where she sees her mom hanging from the tree. Mariam handles these hard times by talking to some of the people she is close with. If i was in Mariams shoes i woukd probably need alone time and eventually get over it.
ReplyDeleteshe barley even talks if at all and now her relationship with her dad is ruined. she was brought up by an abusive mother though she dosent realize it.
Deletei am reading the book a long way gone its kind of the same as that but he was looking for his mom and dad and he found out he got killed and he dont really care so he goes out trying to kil them.
DeleteI feel as though Amir makes his own problems. He doesnt talk about any of his problems either. He keeps them all a secret and pretends they arent even a thing. When someone tries to talk to him about his biggest secret he clams up and tries his best to forget about it and move on to a different topic. Then when he learns how wrong he was for not doing anything about it, he decides now is the time to reconcile for his mistakes. If i were Amir i would have done something to stop what he saw happen in the alley or at least keep his friend close and not drive him away. Or even just let someone know what happened to get it off my chest and try to help the situation a little instead of trying to forget about it.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Amir makes his own problems. A lot of things he does, he hides and eventually i think later on in the book hes going to regret it.
DeleteIn my book Night Elie faces sever challenges at are life and death. One challenge is being separated from his mom and sister. I would have probably left them too because I would still have my dad. Being put into a camp I would work hard to stay with my dad like Elie did. However toward the end when Elies dad is in the hospital. I would in my heart help him even if that meant death. I would do that because that was the only thing to work for. Would you do the same? To tell you the truth I would be dead because I care too much about others.
ReplyDeleteGood response and i agree with how i would also work hard to stay with my dad cuz he would be all i had.. but PLEASE DON'T SPOIL THE END!!!
DeleteI agree being away from my mom and sister in a setting like that would be very tough to deal with. Not knowing if they were dead or alive.
DeleteI am reading kite runner and in my book Amir faces many challenges. His first challenge was when he out the money and watch under Hassans bed. He wasn't trying to make them leave but they actually did. Later in the book Amir starts missing Hassan. Another hardship was when his dad dies. There was a huge funeral with Afghanistan's that came to pay their respects. If i were in my main characters situation, i would feel lost because my dad is a big part in my life.
ReplyDeletenow that baba has cancer do you think that really changed the book
DeleteI agree with you it would be very hard to lose your dad, your ex-bestfriend (Hassan) and family friend (Rahim) all in a row. It takes a lot to get through all of that.
DeleteHunter i dont think it will change it for the bad i think it will change it for the good i think amir will be able to express himself more
DeleteIn my book a Long Way Gone the main character Ishmael faces constant danger during the uprising in his country. He loses contact with his parents during an attack on his village and he loses contact with his brother while running from his captors. He deals with these conflicts by joining up with a group of boys and constantly moving from village to village. I don't think I could handle the psychological trauma as well as Ishmael, I think I would go crazy.
ReplyDeleteI dont think that i would go crazy but i would be upset because of what happens to his family and alot of the people that he knew in his village.
DeleteI agree there is know way i could handle with physical trauma it would be so hard to handle and to go through at such a young age. I don't know how Ishmael does it.
Deleteatleast the poor kid found a group so he isnt alone through out that.
DeleteI think it would be very hard but i think i could get through it without going crazy.
DeleteIn my book A Long Way Gone Ishmael has to travel around the country side with no food or anything besides the clothes that he wears. At one point he gets lost in the jungle for a month and has to eat what ever he can find while trying not to get killed by snakes and wild boars. Eventually he gets caught by the government and forced to fight the rebels who killed his family and friends. If i was Ishmael i think i would fought the rebels to because they killed his family and alot of his friends.
ReplyDeleteI would have fought the rebels if I was angry enough, but I think i would have been too depressed to even live as long as Ishmael did.
DeleteI would have tried to find or steal a gun or a weapon of some kind and kill every rebel that i could.
DeleteI agree I would have been so angry that I would have tried to kill any rebel that I seen or anyone that I thought was a bad guy because all Ishmael wants it to be back with his family and the rebels are keeping him from being able to accomplish that.
DeleteI am reading a Thousand Splendid suns in part one and two the main characters mariam and laila have both had difficult times mariam with the death of her mom and the death of her unborn-children or getting forced to marry at a very young age and laila with the civil war and having all her friend ether leave or blown to bits or how her love life is falling a part
ReplyDeleteit’s hard to believe this situation can take place and it intrigues me on how they just brush all this off like its almost no big deal. if I where them I would get out of the relationship and abandon my family to leave the war zone
I am reading the book A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah. The author went through a civil war where he lost everything. At the beginning he loses his parents, and then he losses his brother and friends. At this point i would have given up of all hope of finding safety, but Ishmael bottles up his emotions and keeps walking. At the beginning when Ishmael is getting shot at i would have dodged and weaved, but after he losses his family I would have welcomed death, because there would be no reason to live because everyone he know was either gone or dead.
ReplyDeleteI agree that after losing of your family that i would welcome death because they were killed for no real reason and you have been walking for months and have not found safety.
DeleteI don't know why he is still fighting to stay alive when there is nothing left in his life for him to live for.
Deletei am reading a thousand splendid suns and my book mariath mom died and it was hard to read because it was sad
DeleteNight is kind of the same way because the character looses his mom and sister right away and has no clue if they are still alive or shot dead and burned with the other jews.
DeleteI'm reading knight and i view the characters challenges as very challenging and unnecessary, plane out just evil. My character actually handles all his challenges very calmly a lot calmer than i ever would thats for sure i would be freaking out but Elie finds the bright side of every situation. If i was in Elie's shoes it would be a lot different i know it wouldn't help anything and probably get me killed but i would probably try to right back. I definitely don't know if i could be as calm as he is.
ReplyDeleteIn my book A Long Way Gone my characters are the same as yours. They are going through some really tough times in a civil war and they are kinda handling it well cause all they keep doing is just running and trying not to get caught.
Deletei agree that Elie is handling his current situation very well, probably a lot better than i could.
Deleteim reading a thousand splendid suns by Khaled Hosseini. and in the book the main charcter Mariam is the child of a cheating husband, a bastered. even though having many wives is encouraged in that contry the mother had many mental problems and his family woudnt allow them to marry. she is then sent to a couple miles outside of the city and lives with her abusive mother for 14 years while her dad came and visited once a week. one day she decides for her birthday she wants to go see her dads house sense he is very rich so she leaves her house and goes to his house. when she gets there she isnt allowed in and she insits on seeing her so she sleeps outside the house. eventually she gets drivin home by the driver and when she arrives she finds her mother dead. soon after she is forced to marry a some 50 year old from accrose contry.
ReplyDeleteWhat would you do in her situation? Would you cry or be happy that your abusive mother is dead?
DeleteI am reading the book Long Way Gone, and the challenges my character is facing is that he is on the run basically from rebels that are raiding villages and murdering everyone inside of them, he cannot go home out of fear that he could be caught and killed by rebel solders or turn into one himself. They also don't have and food and are forced to try and sneak into a village to steal some. I don't know how i would deal with these problems if i had to face them having no food and nowhere to go and not knowing if your family and friends are alive or dead.
ReplyDeleteSounds like your charactor is in a tough spot it is hard to say what i would do if i was in that position thats a tough one not knowing if your family is dead
DeleteI am reading the book The Kite Runner and the main character is Amir he faces a lot of challenges that sets him back. One of the big challenges he ha to face was overcoming that his best friend got raped and he didn't do anything about this. Another challenge he faced was trying to find a wife. He found Soraya and he married her but more problems came he father pasted and him and her cant have children. I think that Amir did a good job with most of the situation besides the one where he watched Hassan get raped i think he could have stepped in and stopped him.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing but if this kid was bigger than amir and hassan then amir could have been raped as well
DeleteI'm reading the book Night and the main character, Eli faces many adversities in the book. He is Jewish so he gets put into a concentration camp. He barely gets and food, he gets worked until he is exhausted, he gets verbally and physically abused. And on top of it all he got separated from his mom and sister right when they got to the camp so, he doesn't know if they are alive or dead and burned with all the others who were killed.
ReplyDeletei agree with you Riley what elie is basically getting starved to death and worried about burning to death
Deleteim pretty sure elie has figured out his sister and mom are dead.
DeleteI am reading The Kite runner and stuff is starting to get really interesting because the cancer has spread in baba and now it is in his brain.also afgans drive to the hospital to see baba.Amir and baba go to Taheris home for a traditional cerimony. the engagement was so breif Amir doesnt learn anything about soryays family until after the wedding is over. he also doesnt let jamila sing in public
ReplyDeletei am reading a long way gone and its getting a lot better because right in the beging of the book they didnt really do much other then just run from the rebles but now they are fighting them and killing them.
Deletethe main person changes a lot from wnting to mmet his family and just about finding them and he finds out they got killed by the rebles he gets very mad at them and wants to get them back and kill them his friends are always there for him but the get killed to so he doesnt really care anymore and just wants to kill them.
ReplyDeletein my book I'm reading the book night the main character is Elie he is in the concentration camp Auschwitz he went threw getting split up from is family. Elie also had to figure how to change his life because he went from having a good home to having nothing. Elie has to work in the camp for no pay and a slice of bread. He also had to figure out what to do because theyre basically straving them to death
ReplyDeleteelie sounds like hes living pretty rough life. how do you think he will pull out of his poverty?
Deletekite runner Charlie has some struggles when people make fun out of him for being the rich kid and he gets whatever he wants he hangout with a poor kid fir a friend. Hassan he hangs out with the rich kid and that people think how can he hang out with a rich kid when he's a poor kid. if I was one any of them I wouldn't care what people think of me. if I was rich I wouldn't care what people say behind my back or in my face. there just jealous and trying to get under your skin. Hassan I would be have that you get to hang with a rich kid and let the other kids be jealous and laugh at them.
ReplyDeletei am reading thousand splendid suns i like the book but its kinda boring. mariam is going throw hard times in the book after her mom killed her self and she had to sit outside and wait for her dad. she was also forsed to marry an old guy because that is how it is around there.
ReplyDeleteIn a long way gone the main characters face challenges everyday with living in a war and having to fight to stay alive. My character is on the run from rebels that are trying to kill him. The characters handle their hardships of the war by running away but they have lots of encounters close to death. I don't know how i would deal with this situation if i was put in it because i wouldn't have any food, and it would suck not knowing if your family is still alive or not.
ReplyDeletewhat kind of war is he in?
DeleteI am reading Kite Runner and my character Amir has been through some challenges. One of the challenges that he faces is moving from Afghanistan to America. He goes through almost having his father shot in front of him and seeing a boy die in the tanker and his father committing suicide after. He also has to help his father adjust to the new customs of the nation. Amir handles most of this pretty well but if I was in his shoes i would have a breakdown.
ReplyDeleteso in the book night Elie faces many problems. first he is apart of the haulicaust and he has to live in the camps and do work for the germans for free and he is feed like nothing. and on top of that he sees people he knows die n a daily baises and that would make anyone lose it. i am not sure that he handles it well considering he starts to lose his faith in God and second guesses his faith. as for if i was in the situation i would lean on God more and not go away from the creator of the world. and i would not handle it well i would try and get out of there even though i know you cant.
ReplyDeleteIn Night the main character is a boy named Elie. Elie faces many challenges in the book as his family are taken to a concentration camp. Right away he is separated from his mom and sister and has nothing left but his dad. This makes him work hard to do whatever possible to stay alive and to stay with his dad. Elie and his dad are overworked, underfed, and physically and verbal abused. If I was in the story I would be the same way and do whatever possible to stay with my dad.
ReplyDeleteOK so im still confused you read this book alone? Anyways he is going through a lot and learning new ways to survive. I feel like he is a strong kid and will do whatever he needs to do to survive.
Deletemy book is the same the rebels seperated a lot of families from them invading villages and recruiting young children to fight for them
DeleteI am reading the book Night by Elie and damn this is sad i already heard all the story's about the holocaust, but Elie a little boy in the Holocaust and when he is telling his story its really heartbroken the crap he goes through is unbearable to the ghettos from the train and then to the camp and him living through that is really hard there is no fixing on what he has gone through he is just a little boy and hes experienced the world like an adult in the matter of 4 weeks that shit hits its starts to get real and theirs no playing around its now survival. If i were him id feel like id be right were he is doing the same as he was doing surviving the same he is surviving. I would be scared and that on PERIOD.
ReplyDeleteIm reading night, and some challenges the main character goes through is living in concentration camps and work camps. he handles all of this by keeping his head low and not getting noticed by any of the soldiers. i would probably do the same thing f i was in that situation.
ReplyDeleteso i just saw this post and you and Brady are in a group? but i am glad that you 2 get to experience this book and get a different view in Elise's eyes. He has been going through so much that he has never gone through before so i can see that this is a struggle for him and many others surrounding him. He is doing what ever it takes to just stroll through this and as you said keep his "head low"
DeleteIn kite runner Amir faces mant challanges that a boy his age should not have to deal with. He witnessed his best frind hassan being rapped by a "Nazi Lover". And he didnt know what to do so he just tried to forget about it. Personally i would have tried to stop it somehow but then again he could have been raped as well.
ReplyDeleteI am reading the book "A thousand splendid suns" and both characters Mariam and Laila have been facing hardships since they were little kids. Mariam's mother died, which led to her living with her dad for a bit until him and his 3 wives basically gave her away to marry an old guy, which things only seem to be getting worse for her. She had multiple miscarriages and Rasheed her husband keeps on abusing her physically and metally. The other character Laila had lost a lot of people during the war which were her 2 brothers, a friend, and her parents. Rasheed then use this opportunity to marry her and use her like Mariam. I believe that both characters are strong and both of them have been handling it maturely. I honestly would of acted differently, I would of fought back or done something to prevent my self from marrying an abusive old man.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai. The main character is Malala I think the biggest adversity she faced was where she lives they treat women so much differently from men. Women are only really meant for house work and to make more kids but, her father doesn't treat her that way they both think women shouldn't be treated differently. Her dad allows her to get an education that no other girl gets. If I was Malala I would hate being treated like i'm not good enough just because of my gender and that i'm only meant for certain things.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Malala tries to stand up for her rights and then gets shot in the head and that's not ok.
DeleteIn the book Night the main charter is Elie and he faces many adversity's going from abuse to losing half of his family and wondering about them everyday. His life style doesn't help with that either, him being a jew he gets sent to a camp and its not easy for him or his family. Elie has the content weight of wondering if his mom and sisters are alive or if they were burned to death.
ReplyDeleteMy book is similar. the characters' family is no where to be found and he doesn't know if they are alive or where they are if they are alive.
DeleteIn the book I am Malala, Malala grows up in Pakistan and faces many problems. One of the major problems going on right now is women's rights and their right to education. Malala goes on to write a journal and publish it using a different name. If I was in her situation, I would drop the topic in order to save myself from getting shot at and killed.
ReplyDeletei am reading A Long Way Gone and the main character is facing a civil war in his country and has to try and escape being captured and forced to fight with the rebels. I think the character is having to face a lot of challenges because he is always on the move and never really has food, water, or shelter. He is running through a jungle which is full of dangerous animals and plants i think his biggest struggle is not knowing if his family is alive and that no matter where he is, he is never safe. If i was in his situation i would probably do the same thing just keep running and try to survive.
