  1. I am reading the book Kite Runner. The characters are facing many challenges while they are in Afghanistan and the biggest challenge they face is between Assef and Hassan. Assef is the bully in the book and he raped Hassan and Amir (the main character) watched but left even though his best friend was being raped. The book started off really slow and it was very complicated because the characters names are hard to remember as they aren't normal. At chapter 5 the book really took off and had lots of things happen. This made the book better and easier to understand at this point.

  2. Im Reading the book long way gone. The book takes place in sierra leon in afreica. The charachters in the book are in the middle of a civil war between Rebels and the Nations goverment. The book started slow but was quick to jump right into the details of the war and the aspects that come with. I think this book shows alot of details of the actual fighting and has a resemblance between other countries facing real world problems like this and so far i enjoy the book besides for the names that make zero sence on how to pronounce them

  3. There wasn't much that attracted me to this book because this wasn't my first choice. The primary focus in my book The Kite Runner is Amir and Hassan and how there friends and how they aren't very close friends anymore after Hassan got raped and Amir watch and didn't help. Amir isn't handling this situation very well he just framed Hassan of stealing money and watches so he would get thrown out of the house. My initial thoughts were that this book is very different and some of the words are hard to understand. There culture is just way different from our culture like having multiple wives. This book hard a slow start getting into it but around chapter five it picked up.

    1. This book started very slow and it was difficult to understand each character as they had weird names. It also wasn't the book I was quite looking for but hopefully it gets better. It also has many of words that they use in their culture but don't say what their meanings are.

  4. I am reading the kite runner and i would say that the first few chapters were very confusing. it seemed that they put everything in a pot and gave it to us because they just kept adding stuff and i never knew what was going on until about chapter 4. I never really got attracted into the novel i just got put into it. the main thing is flying kites and going to tournaments to fly all these kits and they try to win

    5. i agree with luke the kite tournaments is kind of a weird thought because if you ask anybody, they most likely wont know what it is. i also think its weird how they put glass on the string of the kites because every time they have a tournament they players have cuts ll over their hands.

  6. The book I am reading is A Long Way Gone. I was attracted to this book cause it was with something about war and it was a book with action in it. The primary focus in my book is a group of kids who are trying to survive from a group of rebels that are taking over villages and are recruiting people from the villages. They are trying to get food from villages and everything they go to get some there are rebels there that capture them or kill people who try to go back. As of right now they are just trying to hide from the rebels and not get caught. My initial thoughts of the book is that it jumps right in it was maybe a few pages in and there village already gets raided and they have to survive on there own.

  7. I am reading I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai. This book focuses on Malala's life and what she did to become an influencer. Malala is the main character, she is a teenage girl who is growing up in Swat Valley, Pakistan. The girls there are not allowed to go to school but her dad starts up a school for all kids in their town. This book starts off slow and kind of boring. I don't really like the book that much because it is boring. I wish it didn't talk about her dad as much as it does.

    1. It talks about her dad the first few chapters and i don't get why because the book should be about her. she should be talking about herself so then we get to know her more as the book goes on

    2. Maybe she talks about her dad a lot so you know some of her background and how she is the way she is.

  8. I am reading the novel, I am Malala. This novel was attractive to me because it is about how a girl was treated in her own country. After reading the first few chapters, I personally think that it is extremely boring. She is talking mostly about her father and things that he experienced. It is a very slow start and I hope it gets better fast. The primary focus would be on why she was named Malala and how her country doesn't appreciate the birth of girls as much as they do boys. Her father doesn't think tat way though and he celebrates her birth anyway. So far in the story, it doesn't even mention much about the main character, Malala.

  9. I am reading the book A Long Way Gone. The things that attracted me to this book was it was about a young boy that was a soldier. And i thought it would be a interesting book and a easier book to connect to beings it was about a young kid. The primary focus of the novel so far is the boys trying to find food and are faced with a lot of challenges due to the town being invaded by rebels and the boys are trying to find food, shelter and most importantly there parents. The characters so far are handling the situation of being involved in the war and struggle of being able to survive well. They are using there resorses and skills wisely to make the most of it. After reading the first few chapters i feel like the book is very good, it really goes into detail about some of the major scenes and really makes you feel like you are actually in the book and you are able to visualize it. i feel the book is going to continue to get better as it goes on. My first impression of the book was good, it really gave a lot of detail and made you feel like you were in the book.

  10. i am reading the book A Long Way Gone i was attracted to this novel because of the civil war that is going on and the fact that our main character is trying to escape the war. The main focus is the main charter is trying to not be captured by the rebels and he is trying to escape the war and not become a kid solider. My initial thoughts on the book is that it is pretty interesting to see what its like to live in those 3rd world countries and what its like to have to go through those hardships the main character is going through. The book is going at a moderate pace and is pretty easy to understand on whats going on and my 1st impression is that the book is going good and that it will be interesting to see what is going to happen to the main charter.

    1. I slightly disagree. the main point is to describe how this one summer changed Amir the main characters life forever. The point of kite runner i believe is perseverance because Amir goes through a lot of sh*t but i feel like he brings it upon himself. Baba is his father and he is very set in his ways and Amir feels the need to fight for his love. I hope the book actually describes what happens during the war and how he actually escaped not just little bits of the passage and what happened in the 5 year gap before he fled the country?

      Delete
    2. i would have to disagree with the book being about flying kites due to the fact that there was one event which involved the kite tournament. I would say that so far the book mainly talks about amir's accounts of going from rich to a refuge.

  18. I am reading the book A Thousand Splendid Suns. I was attracted to this book because it was talking about the violence in Afghanistan so I felt it would be a good pick. 19. I am reading A Thousand Splendid Suns. The beginning was very confusing because of the dialect and cultural word choice. Eventually I could understand who was who and the book started to pick up. The main focus so far is on the hardships Afghanistan women have to endure in their lives. Mariam the main character lives a sorrowful childhood, hidden away. Her father is a rich man who got his housekeeper, Mariam's mother, pregnant. Her mother was kicked out and they have lived a lonely life ever since with visits from her father only on Thursdays. The cultural difference and hardships make me empathetic for Mariam. The book started to speed up in the first chapters and Mariam aged quickly. I am excited to see how Mariam lives the rest of her life.

The more I kept reading about Mariam I couldn't stop because it intrigued me how much hope this girl had inside her despite all the negative energy surrounding her. I really felt for Mariam when her dad did nothing to stop the marriage and that his 3 wives came to that solution in order to basically get rid of Mariam.

Nothing attracted me until they got to the part where they were flying the kite's. Amir found Hassan in the alley with Assef getting raped and Amir did nothing to stop him which confuses me. I think it has a slow start to the story but after the beginning it starts to get more interesting.

  30. I am reading Night by Elie Wiesel. The book is able how Jews like Elie were treated for their faith. So for the Jew are accepting the new laws like living in the gettos and that they need to have faith to survive. They handled the long trip in cattle cars with little food and water. Each car containing 80 people. Reading makes me think how lucky we are to defet Germany because I belive that I would be died for my religion. The book jumps right in to the point and stays their. Reading how Jews were treated make me feel thankful that they were able to stay strong and upset to the fact that they were blamed. I hope you read this book and learn how strong Jews really are.

    1. I agree what the Jews all went through was just so horrible to think about it just makes you so mad at the soldiers and it makes you open you eyes that we don't have this now a days because it would be just horrible.

  31. I am reading the book A Long Way Gone. The main character is facing a revolution in his country. This uprising leaves death behind it as it moves from village to village across the country. The main character is almost killed multiple times while he is trying to escape the rebel uprising. I don't like how the book constantly jumps around and doesn't explain what is happening before going to the next place. The first three chapters of this book are extremely slow to dive into the action. It has slowly getting better and finding it's footholds to develop the story.

  32. I am reading the book The Kite Runner, I did not choose this book or know about it and would definitely chose a different book. The book is very slow going and hardly made any sense in the beginning. I think the book is kind of confusing to because the narrator, Amir, has a lot of flashbacks and jumps around alot.

  34. I'm reading Night by: Elie Wiesel, The book started off really confusing to me but then after i got done with the first chapter it got a lot more interesting. The primary focus in this book is The Nazi soldiers taking the Jews to the concentration camp and the book is in the point of view of a Jew. The Jews are scared and they do not know what is going on so they really don't know how to react yet they are just kinda all in shock of what they see. Like i said it was a slow and confusing start to the book kinda hard to read to me but after the first chapter things started to make since and it gets a lot more exciting and interesting.

    1. I thought it was not so confusing. I read the intro and it really prepared you for what is happening. If you didn't read the intro I would recommend it. Also the book just gets more and more interesting.

    2. This book god damn i almost cried when they started to use the babies as target practice that hits hard in so many levels, the Jews are very scared as i feel they lost all hope in being saved.

  35. I am reading the book Night. It is about world war two and how the Jewish got took to the concentration camps by the Nazis. The story is told from Elie, a young Jewish boy's point of view. I don't mind the book because it is about the Holocaust and I like learning about world war two, but the book is kind of slow right now in the beginning so hopefully it starts to speed up a bit.

  36. i am reading the book a thousand splendid nights. and the beginning of the book it takes a little bit to get into the book and to understand it. there is a lot of things that are going on. it is hard get started into the book but after the first couple chapters then its an easy read. there are a tone of things going on in the book but as you go on in the book it all goes together and makes more sense. right now in the book its about mariam and her having the life she wanted with her father. but it happened not how she wanted to happen. shes feeling like an out cast at her dads house with all her siblings and his 3 wises.

    3. I did like how the author took his time describing Mariam's childhood and what she had to face at a young age.I would agree that this book can sometimes be hard to read because it does mention different words that I have never seen or heard about but it does get easier through out the book because it those give you a hint on what it means sometimes. I do feel bad for Mariam because she never got what she wanted and her life is slowly starting to go downhill.

  38. This is the 2nd time my crap deleted so 3rd time must be the charm. I am reading the book Night by Elie Wiesel. The book starts off great with power of emotion and i never lost interest to read the book and god i hate reading but this book is a good read so far its about a guy that writes about his past experience in the holocaust as a child. I chose this book because it seems dark and horrifying and i love reading about the experience. The book is going by fast it pretty much jumps right in to a horrible experience that he encountered that no one believes happened.

  41. I am reading the book Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, this book was my 3rd pick and i wish it was my 5th it is very slow and it jumps around and goes from flash back to current time over and over. it gets very aggravating because half the time you have no idea what is going on. The book is mainly about relationships. Amir talks about a event that happened 26 years ago when he was a little boy in Afghanistan, he says something happened there that has shaped him into the person he is today.

  42. Im reading the book Night. The biggest thing that attracted me to this novel is that I like ww2 a lot so this book automatically interested me. The primary focus of this novel is them trying to survive in a jewish death camp during world war 2. After reading the first few chapters I really like it and it seems like a good read. The only question I have about the book is will he survive till the end.

  43. in the book night, i didn't really chose it cause i was gone. but i will say i am interested. for the simple fact that i love history and WW2 was a hug part of the worlds history. and thats what gets me interested to read it. the focus of this novel is to show how Elie and his family got into and out of concentration camps to eventually survive the WW2 era.after the first few chapters i feel like it will be an interesting read and i am excited to see where this book goes.

  44. I am reading the book "A thousand splendid suns". This book starts of slow explaining and giving more information about the 2 main characters which are Mariam and Laila. After reading a few chapters about Mariam I instantly feel bad for the girl because she never got to experience a normal childhood. I feel like the primary focus on this novel would be the hardships these girls face during their marriage. So far surprisingly during any situation these girls are going through they are facing it maturely which really got me hooked in because they show strength but they don't realize how strong they truly are.

  45. I'm reading the book Long Way gone, what attracted me to this novel was the boy on the cover is holding an RPG bullet and has an AK-47 with a bayonet attached to the barrel. The main character and his friends village gets attacked by rebels and they have to survive by staying on the run and not getting caught by the rebels. I think the book is really boring and slow so far but i think it will start to pick up as i read further.
