Blog Response #12

Please answer both questions in your blog.

1.  Upon finishing your book, share any lessons or themes that the book has taught you or left you with.  When you look back on this book 5 or 10 years from now, what will you remember about it?  Where does this book rank in your list of all time favorites?

2.  What lessons has this class as a whole taught you?  With freedom comes responsibility. What did you learn in English 4B.

**When responding, try to make connections with the lessons that your book taught you or the lessons you have learned in this class.

  1. I read the book Prisoner B-3087 and there really wasn't any lessons that i was taught. When i look back at this book i will remember that the Jewish people got treated terrible by the the Nazi's. This book ranks not to high in my all time favorites more towards the bottom. This class has taught me to manage my time and be responsible to finish my stuff. I learned that reading really isn't that when you have a good book.

I agree with you that this class has taught me to manage time well and be ore responsible because we had to schedule discussions and make them up if we werent here.

  2. I think the one lesson I learned from "Football Champ" was to always tell the truth. It will always work out in the end. What I will remember is how scared Troy was to talk to the reporter but he did it because he knew he wasn't doing anything wrong. This book probably ranks as my 2nd favorite. This class has taught me that when you get your stuff done in a timely manner you can get rewarded. Like finishing a book early can get you free time to play on your phone or do other school work.

  3. The book that i read was Slaughter House Five in the book there was not a lesson that i could find but i will remember it because of the bombing of Dresden that it talked about and how many people died. I would rank this book towards the bottom of my list because it was really confusing and i just did not think it was that interesting. The class taught me to get my work done on time and to not waste the class time that i am given.

  4. I read the book monument 14. i dont think there is a very strong theme but if there was it would be to keep moving forward and survive. What i will remember about the book is that it ended terribly and i hate the cliff ending. I dont think it even earns a spot in my favorite books. It was a good book to read but i dont think it would be a book i would want to read over and over again making it a book i wouldnt count as a favorite. This class has taught me to do my work fast and efficiently to get it done and have free time to work on the next book or project.

I witnessed that first hand in my book when moritz brother came home and was addicted to drugs and liquor. I would probably remember this book because i dont like to read a whole lot of books and i actually enjoyed reading this one. I wold say its probably in the top 5 of favorites. I learned that if you want to slack off work hard in the beggining so then you have time at the end. If i fell behind in the begining i was way behind.

  7. I read the book Foul by Paul Hoblin, the theme of my book would be family and love. I think that because family is everything in this book without family there would be nothing. Love because there is a love story going on through out the whole book. This book taught me you don't have to have the same blood to be family. This is my all time favorite book. 11. One thing this book has taught me is that if something is not yours you cant keep it. Eric found the dog sleeping in the dog and he wanted to keep it so bad but the vet said he found the owner and the owner is coming to get it in a few days. I will remember the part where they live in the barn and shoot their first pheasants. One thing i learned from this class is that you are in charge of your time and if you dont get something done on time its nobody fault but your own

John was badly injured and the fought to stay alive, trying to believe that someone will come save him. When i look on this book, i probably wont even remember reading it. If i do i remember anything from the book, it will be that john was injured and his jaw was shot off. This class has taught me that everyone has different views on books. In the future i will remember a few things form this book like how a young kid was on the falcons team and to never give up and to keep going on your dreams. 23. I read the book Dirt Road Home and the main theme in the book was standing up and fighting for yourself. Also never giving up when times are hard. In this book while Hal was in jail, he kept getting threatened and beat up by two different gangs, but he knew that he would be getting out soon so he just dealt with it and didn't give up on himself or getting out of jail. In five years I will probably not remember reading this book, but if I do, it would probably be about his time in jail. In this class I learned about time management and responsibility. 36. in the book Far From The Tree i have learned that family is everything no matter what. they all found out they have the same mom when they are all older but something tragic have happened to her. they all where close no matter if they haven't known each other for that long. this book will always be one of my favorite top 5. there was so much that i have related to this book and it likes to play with your emotions. looking back on this book i will remember that no one is the same and that life is full of lots of surprises and you don't want to take family for granted. the one thing that i have learned in this class is that reading a book isnt that bad it is hard reading a book that your not that interested in.

  37. I read the book Among The Hidden and i think the main theme of this book is illegal third children vs. The Government. Because of Luke having to be constantly hidden and Jen getting killed right outside of the presidents house just because they were the third child in the family.
Learned how to talk and work with people who i normally don't talk to and being able to work with people that i don't like.

  38. I read the book "Falling leaves" a memoir by Adeline Yen Mah and This book ranks #2 because I actually enjoyed it. The lesson that this book has taught me is to always have a kind heart despite other people's ways to try and bring you down. When I look back after 5 or 10 years I would remember that to all those people who have ever been mean to me, karma would eventually caught up to them and all it takes is patience. In this English class we have a lot of free time and it did taught me to use my time responsibly or else some things won't get done and it would be my fault for wasting my time in class.

  39. I read the book, A Thousand Acres. Upon reading this book, I learn that not everybody is trustworthy and that you need to be careful in who you believe. The father Larry sold the farmland of his to his 2 daughters, but then later, told them that they stole it from them. They ended up having to go to court and found out that the father was lying. There are so many other times that it is shown as well. Many of the people have either, lied, stole, or cheated, and they are all family as well. Looking back in the upcoming years, I think I will see that not everyone is who you think they are. I think this is one of my favorite books. In this class, it has taught me how to manage my time and shown me that it is my responsibility to get things done. Also that the teacher is not going to always be there to hold my hand.

    1. I agree this class has also taught me a lot about time management and being responsible. It is important not to let people lie and cheat you in real life.

  40. I read the book "Far from the Tree" and this book showed me that family comes in all shapes and sizes. You don't have to be born into a family but welcomed and wanted and loved. Families grow every day, you don't have to know who you bring into to your family you just and to love and trust them unconditionally. I also learned that people sometimes aren't who you think they are and people change with a snap of your fingers. But no matter what your going through someone is going to be there for you and the people who are are your real friends. This book is probably is one of my favorites because i don't read that much and the books but the ones that i have read ease into the good part but with this book it brought you i right away and kept you there. Surprising enough there was still a climax and with little ones throughout the book. This class has defiantly to not procrastinate because that will make you have an F. But is has also tough me to keep your head up and push through because there is an ending to everything. The freedom that was given in this class kinda bit me in the ass because at first i didn't used my time wisely but getting closer to the ending of the class i can see that it prepared me for college more than i though it would.

  41. I read Wuthering Heights and learned not to marry for money. Catherine married Edgar because she thought his wealth would be the only way to give her life contentment. She did not marry her true love Heathcliff because of this. When I look back on this book in 5 or 10 years I will remember how dark and sad the love story was. This book was very challenging to get through and it will not be on my list of favorites. This class has taught me a lot about getting things done and self motivation. I have also learned how easy it is to read a book if you get pages done during class.

  42. I read the book the river and there really wasn't any lessons that i was taught. When i look back at this book i will have learned how to survive in the wilderness and remamber that it wont be easy. This book ranks towards the bottom in my list.. This class has taught me to manage my time and be responsible to finish my stuff.

  43. Some lessons I learned were that you just need to keep pushing through and make sure you always go with your gut. I don't know what I will remember in 5 to 10 years because I barely remember what i did yesterday. This book does rank fairly high in the books I've read. This class has taught me how to manage my time and get things done on time. I learned that it is very hard for me to focus in class, especially when I sit next to my friends.

  44. Some lessons that i learned from boot camp was to follow directions and to respect your elders. Because if you don't you will end up in a lot of trouble. I also learned to treat yourself like you would like to be treated. If you help someone they may come around when you least expect it. In a few years from now I will remember how people try to make you the best you. I will remember the blood when I see a fight. I rank Boot Camp as my top 10 in my books that I read. Running Loose is probably my first.

  45. Some lessons I learned from Monument 14 is that you should always be thankful for what you have because it can be taken away at any moment. also i learned that you should stick with the people who care about you because they will be by your side in rough times. I will probably remember this book later on because it was honestly just a good book. 10/10 this book was by far my favorite.
